Youth Ministry

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing” (John 15:5).
As youth in a sight and sound generation,we tend to not really get attached to things or form deep connections because of trends which tend to focus more on reputation than character making us easy to be carried away.

Vine

Why the Vine?

A vine (Latin vīnea “grapevine”, “vineyard”, from vīnum “wine”) is any plant with a growth habit of trailing or scandent (that is, climbing) stems, lianas or runners.

CAGE

In regards to the verse above the aim of the vine is to be a place of: C.A.G.E.
  1. Connecting
  2. Abiding
  3. Grow
  4. Expand

When youth come to our church, we aim to create an environment where they can connect:

  1. To God,
  2. To others, and most importantly,
  3. To themselves.
To continue in a place, to conform to… When someone has connected and feels welcome, they stay and continue to grow. And in the process we get to help them. (Romans 12:1-2)

  • Vineyards: Squads of four people Where they fellowship and get to know each other and be accountable.
  • Bible Study Classes: After the services the youth are grouped according to age of levels of life they are in. The naming of classes was inspired from Bible verses. They are:

    1. Aroma – Inspired by the verse 2 Cor 2:15,this class is designated for youth who have left high school and joined university. Most topics are discussion based.
    2. BOC (Beloved of Christ) – Inspired by the verse ……………………….This class is designated for youth who are now entering the workplace and are now on the journey of settling down. Most discussions are based on Bible reading and topics derived from a book.
    3. Bereans – Inspired by the verse………………..,this class is designated for youth called young adults who have either settled down or are now advanced in life. Most discussions are Bible study of a certain book on a deeper level.

The aspect of growth is a gradual process.
In the process of growth we aim to:

  1. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. (John 15:2)
  2. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. (John 15:4b)
  3. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples. (John 15:7-8)
  4. My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. (John 15:12)
  5. “When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father—he will testify about me.And you also must testify, for you have been with me from the beginning. (John 15:26-27)

After being equipped,we will encourage our youths to go out and also be lights and connect others to the Vine. This will be achieved by outreach and events aimed to reach out to people.
